Florida VIN Verification Procedure Changes Florida DMV offices have been notified of recent legislative changes to the procedures for VIN Verifications. Out-of-state dealers will no longer be able to use their letterhead to provide verification of a vehicle’s VIN number. The new Florida requirement is to verify the vehicle’s VIN using a sworn affadavit or Florida Form 82042. Services and Hours During the Pandemic While most Florida DMV offices have restricted services to appointment only, we remained open as a provider of essential services to out- of-state dealers and land title companies in need of title and registration transactions. We have established a safe and approved no-touch process, through a secured DMV staff that are available for essential DMV work. Please contact us with any questions. Understanding Florida Sales Taxes We calculate the Florida Sales and Use Taxes based upon several criteria that determine the amount. The Florida Department of Revenue has publised the Sales and Use Tax on Motor Vehicles guide (GT-800030) to help explain what is taxable in the State of Florida. It is the job of each Tax Collector Agency in Florida to properly apply the statutes and apply the appropriate State sales tax and County discretionary tax to the selling price of the vehicle, and including separately itemized charges or fees from the transaction. Form GT- 800030 outlines that sales taxes will apply to accessories, doc fees, freight, handling, commission and any other expense or cost of the dealer.
